Only a 5 min auto-rickshaw (Tuktuk) ride away from the holy town of Gokarna, our school is tucked away just behind a tranquil beach of the Indian Ocean, bordering the lush vegetation of the jungle. It is a very spiritual place and only a 1,5-hour train ride away from the hustle and bustle of busy Goa.
Over the past ten years, Gokarna has grown to become a well-liked tourist destination. It draws visitors from all walks of life. They might be lone tourists seeking challenging mountaineering or hiking activities. The convergence seen in Gokarna’s hill stations, lush green meadows, serene coconut palms, seductive beaches, and mysterious waterfalls draws nature lovers searching for an unusual picturesque location. Then there are the travelers with a spiritual bent who want to see the “temple town” on the western coastline and want to study yoga in India.
The yoga retreats in Gokarna offer traditional homesteads and cottages with sea views and acres of surrounding vegetation as you immerse yourself in their health programs. You can select from the programs that include introductions to yogic kriyas and massages or their ayurvedic detox and panchakarma, all of which have professional doctors, therapists, and yoga specialists on board. In addition to the programs, you can keep occupied with meditation sessions, participatory cooking, and nature hikes.

As a former Portuguese colony, Goa has a rich and interesting history. Still today you can see a lot of beautiful Portuguese architecture and the city of Panjim is called the small sister of Lisbon. One of the remaining elements of the Portuguese in Goa is the Christian Churches, which have beautiful, unique architectures & atmospheres. Furthermore, there are also beautiful temples to be visited in the area which are open to everybody. And not to forget the stunning coastline and beaches.
When one mentions Goa, the first few things that come to mind are beaches, parties, fun, and recreation. The inner yogi, who yearns for a union of the body, mind, and soul, would certainly not include such a location on their list. And here is where the widespread belief falls short!
Every year, Goa hosts a fascinating mix of yogis who are either just beginning their journey or have already started and wish to go further. Numerous schools, institutions, and centers are available to welcome each applicant with various options suitable for their needs. There is a sizable yoga community here due to its rising reputation as a location for yoga, which enhances comfort. Additionally, it is highly prized to have the opportunity to practice on the beach while listening to the tranquil sounds of the gently running tides.
